Anyone can go to the social cafe at St John's Anglican Church for a meal and it is free to eat, but donations are accepted.
The organisation, which reaches the milestone of a decade in operation in August, recently had a change in leadership and is calling for more volunteers to join its supportive team made up of over 40 people.
One of the original volunteers, Pam Taylor, said she worked with the group because it was a way of serving others.
"Also the friendships we have on the team is very special," she said.
"I just see it as part of Christian service too."
Another original volunteer, Helen Wyatt, agreed the workers had become very close over the years.
"We get a lot out of our friendships together as well as contributing to a need," she said.
"A lot of the volunteers aren't from St John's, some are in other churches, others aren't religious."
She said the social cafe began as a response to a report about homelessness in the Bega Valley and was slow to start at first.
"It has developed a community so there are people that come every time," she said.
"We have clients who were originals too."
Often the team cooks for 40 per meal. While it was originally intended for the homeless, there has not been a large number of homeless people turning up.
Ms Wyatt believed a lot of those who came in for a feed were people who lived alone, had low incomes or just wanted a home cooked meal.
Others came in because they enjoyed the community around the cafe, but they made donations for their meals.
Volunteers at Ricky's Place perform tasks that include cooking, serving, picking up food donations, setting up at the church for a meal and cleaning up afterwards.
Some teams only work once a month and Ms Wyatt said if prospective volunteers only had a couple of hours to spare then that was fine.
There are two shifts on Mondays for dinner for cooking and serving, then another shift on Fridays for lunch.
