The Member for Monaro John Barilaro made the funding announcement on Monday and commended the staff at both facilities for their commitment to improving care and better resources for those in the community.
“Nurses in Bombala and Delegate do an incredible job caring for each and every person, as if they were caring for their own family member,” he said.
“In November I had the pleasure of meeting with some of these hardworking nurses who spoke about a number of nursing issues. These included more accessible services and support for our health professionals.
“As a result, I tabled a petition in Parliament calling for increased medical care for the region, signed by many residents from Bombala and Delegate. I'm looking forward to keeping the communities up to date as this petition progresses.
“The nurses also raised with me the need for better equipment across Bombala MPS and Delegate MPS, and I’m pleased to be able to deliver funding today for the purchase of new equipment.”
Mr Barilaro said the $105,000 grant will be used to buy important equipment including an i-STAT bedside testing machine, bladder scanner, vein finder and defibrillator.
Mr Barilaro said the funding is not conditional on the outcome of the upcoming NSW election, and has been provided to the Southern NSW Local Health District who will purchase the equipment.
