Thirty one pupils have started in Kindergarten at St Patrick’s Primary School in Bega, with about 200 in the entire school.
“We’re really enjoying growth in the early years,” principal Jo Scott-Pegum said.
There are a few new staff members this year, including assistant principal Caz Perryman, as well as new teachers Craig Gaymer, Lacey Rees and Linda Wylie.
It is an important year for the school, as 2019 marks 150 years of Catholic education in the Bega Valley.
A three-day celebration of the occasion will be held from March 15-17, including a parade in town and a bush dance and dinner.
Ms Scott-Pegum said she felt blessed to be working at the school during its 150th year.
“I think it’s an honour and a privileged to be there at this time to build on the journey,” she said.
