The club will host a five-race card with gates to open for noon.
Officials are expecting a huge turnout of holiday race goers, with a number of visitors to the area, while many return home for the Christmas season.
Race promoter Jess Ryan said the turf club is a fantastic venue for everyone to “catch up with mates, while everyone is back in town”.
The day is also a close second to the Melbourne Cup for frocks and suits as one of the club’s most popular days to dress up.
Ms Ryan said the club would host fashions on the field with a theme ‘it’s all about the milinery’ on the day.
She said the club had some fantastic prizes on offer for the fashions on the field competition with best dressed ladies, couple, best hat and best dressed boys and girls in the offing on Wednesday.
With a number of visitors in the area, Ms Ryan reminds everyone that there is free buses to and from the track with full pick up and drop off times available at sapphirecoastturfclub.com.au.
There is no alcohol to be brought to the track, but there will be a full bar and canteen in operation on the day.
“We’ll also have a coffee van and gourmet hotdogs on offer,” she said.
Eftpos facilities are available at the club, but Ms Ryan encouraged everyone to bring a bit of cash with them as it is likely to be quite busy trackside.
There will be all the usual fare including the free jumping castle for kids, while local bookies will be on hand for the punters.
Race books will be available at the club kiosk.
For those who can’t be part of the festivities on Boxing Day, Ms Ryan said not to fear with the Tathra Cup to go ahead on January 2.
Set to run with a Hawaiian theme, there is a free Corona or soft drink on offer to everyone who joins in the summery feel of the day with their favourite Hawaiian shirt or outfit.
“The Tathra Cup is definitely a family fun focus,” Ms Ryan said.
“There is heaps of family entertainment, we’ll have kids games and kids fashion as well as the ever-popular jumping castle.”
She said the weather is expected to be sunny, and gloriously warm, in stark contrast with the extreme weather and hailstorms that battered many parts of the Far South Coast over the weekend.
The Sapphire Coast Turf Club is located on Sapphire Coast Drive (about 10 mins drive north of Merimbula) near Kalaru.
