The over $60,000 construction at Wallaga Lake Koori Village was opened on Thursday, December 13.
Local children had all been part of the design phase and had the chance to say what they wanted to see in it.
Red Cross helped to get the funding for the project, the majority of which came from the Social and Community Housing Fund, and the organisation also contributed funds as well.
“When it was finished we started seeing [the kids] up there playing at the park. It’s getting well used. They love it, and our community is pleased with it,” elder Aunty Deanna Campbell said
Twelve-year-old Isabelle Parsons of Bega and 11-year-old Shakirra Parsons of Bermagui said they loved the new playground and had watched it being built.
“We’ve been on here heaps of times,” Isabelle said as they played on the equipment on Thursday.
“Ever since it’s been built practically,” Shakirra added.
