Teacher Annie Gravestein said the children become like a “family” during their preschool years.
“It’s hard to let go of the children, it’s like they’re your little friends, but it’s exciting to see them go on to Kindergarten,’ she said.
“Change is part of life.”
We asked the five-year-olds what they enjoyed most about preschool and what they hope to do next year.
Aiden
“Preschool was good,” he said.
“I’m excited to go and make friends.”
Hiro
“I love playing Lego, and doing soccer and I like going on the playground,’ he said.
“I really want to play in the park.”
Will
“I like playing in the park, soccer and playing on the blocks outside. I like being smart because my sister teaches me,” he said.
“I don’t really know what there is at my next school yet, but I’m excited to go.”
Caitlyn
“I like playing mums and dads,” she said.
“I’ll play with the doll house.”
Tadgh
“I didn’t really like preschool much,’ he said.
“I’m going to school now because I’m five.”
Josie
“I like the sandpit and playing with my friends,” she said.
“I want to play on stuff and I like English things, like when people talk in English.”
Levi
“I like playing on the bike track and normally I like playing in the bottom sandpit, and with the soccer balls,” he said.
“I want to play games with my friends and learn about dinosaurs.”
Madison
“I like playing with my friends,” she said.
“I want to play in the classroom and learn how to read.”
Conor
“I like building robots using lots of blocks and dough. I made the Greek god Atlas, the Statue of Liberty in New York and Spiderman a few times,” he said.
“I want to learn how to be a boxer.”
Isabella
“I like playing with my friend Maddy and writing,” she said.
“I want to make new friends.”
Finnegan
“I love the park and also the bike track,” he said.
“I want to learn about going to space. I want to be an astronaut. The moon is the best part of space. I want to go to the moon.”
Liam
“I like playing at the park, and soccer and on the bike track,” he said.
“I want to learn how to read.”
Cohen
“I like playing with playdough, and with the balls, and with the bike track and in the park,” he said.
“I want to learn about being a policeman.”
