The Victorian Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby (VGLRL) says they surveyed all parties on key policy issues affecting the LGBTI community and was concerned the coalition had not addressed them in their policy pledges so far.
"The Coalition's silence to basic questions like whether it would retain its current Equality Minister sends a troubling signal that a Coalition Government won't maintain even existing support and funding for LGBTI Victorians," VGLRL Co-Convenor Dale Park said in a statement.
"We can only hope Matthew Guy will listen to the views of LGBTI communities and make further LGBTI announcements soon."
But Mr Guy said the group's comments "couldn't be further from the truth".
"Why would I have a shadow minister (for equality) if we were not going to keep the minister?" he told reporters on Friday.
"I think their analysis is somewhat misleading and dare I say, somewhat political."
Mr Guy confirmed the coalition would retain an Equality Minister should it win the November 24 election.
The lobby welcomed support from all parties to end religious discrimination against LGBTI students.
But it says Labor's pledge to retain and expand key LGBTI programs doesn't go far enough to end religious discrimination in areas other than schools.
Mr Park said further work was needed in the areas of anti-discrimination laws and for intersex, transgender and bisexual communities to make Victoria truly the equality state.
"This election is shaping up to be close, so it's more important than ever that voters who care about LGBTI issues know not just where their candidate stands but also the party policies, or lack thereof," he said.
