Numerous families and fans of the river and surrounds enjoyed market stalls, entertainment and tree planting at the event organised by the Bega River and Wetlands Landcare group.
Visitors were welcomed by councillor Liz Seckold, local MPs Andrew Constance and Mike Kelly, and BRAWL chairman Chris Allen.
Adding to the day’s eclectic mix of activities were taiko drummers, Bollywood and Irish dancing displays, nature-inspired art and crafts, a dog obedience obstacle course, informative talks on eels, and guided tours of the river reserve.
Mr Allen said BRAWL volunteers have been active over many years battling bamboo and invasive weeds on the river banks, rehabilitating the area for the benefit of the whole community.
