The competition is for players 35 and over and the emphasis is definitely on fun – and the chance to have a cold beverage or two after the game.
It’s not much use publishing results of the day here – every game’s scoreline is 2-2 regardless of what happens on the field!
The Southern Rough Riders invitational team drew players from destinations up to nine hours away to support the event.
They included Candelo’s Toad Heffernan of House Rules fame, and even had current Brumbies hooker Josh Mann-Rea running their water.
Other teams were the Tathra Blue Veins, Batemans Bay Olde Boares, Broulee Dolphins, Vincentia Van Gones, Cooma Knackered Brumbies, the Braidwood Daddy Long Legs, Wollongong Viking Longhorns, Terrey Hills Stillbillies, Shoalhaven Heads Aged Gentlemen (the SHAGs), ACT Vets, Tuggeranong/Jindabyne Soreheads, Gungahlin Golden Eagles, Australian Command and Staff College in Canberra, and the Western Wiley Rams.
