Situated at 1339 Candelo-Wolumla Rd, the picturesque homestead and gardens are just a short drive after visiting the monthly Candelo markets. There will be vintage cars and trucks on display as well as a woodturning demonstration. The usual delicious morning and afternoon teas and lunches with cakes provided by Can Assist members will be available as well as a barbecue.
The original gardens at Collinswood were established by the Collins family after the homestead was built by architect-builder Thatcher in 1905. Those gardens were significantly expanded by Mr and Mrs Rob Owen when they owned the property for over 30 years. The present owners, Phil and Jane Boyd, moved to Collinswood in April 2009 and since then have further extended the gardens and in particular planted many roses which have now matured to give a beautiful display of flowers.
Visitors can wander at their leisure through the beautiful heritage homestead gardens with irises, lavenders and many flowering shrubs as well as the many mature trees with ample shade and seating.
Entry fee is $5 for adults and children will be admitted free.
All funds raised on the day go towards helping residents of the whole Bega Valley Shire who are suffering financial hardship while receiving treatment for cancer. Anyone in need of confidential financial assistance please phone the liaison officer on 0439 328 634.
