The “Film By” initiative provides a rich opportunity for students to develop their film making skills as part of their classroom program. The festival involves children from public schools in Bega, Cobargo, Quaama, Merimbula, Candelo, Wolumla, Tathra and Towamba.
An example of the short films to be screened is one from Class 4S from BVPS, who celebrate NAIDOC Week with their film, which includes an original song written and performed by the children called “Because of her I can”.
Festival coordinator and BVPS STEM teach Jhania Maliniemi said she had received many great films to show “including animation films which show that teachers have engaged with professional learning to teach their students film making and animation skills”.
The head of Film By, Glen Carter, will be travelling from Sydney to attend the event. It starts at 6pm, Monday November 5 and is open to the public.
