For over a week volunteer Rosemarie Griffith of Brogo opened up her home and ran cooking classes with local children to prepare for a celebration to thank the firefighters. The children made their own ice cream, sausage rolls, apple pies, canapes and a pavlova in the shape of “thank you”.
On Sunday, the community gathered at the Brogo Fire Shed to enjoy the food and say thanks to the local volunteers who worked tirelessly to contain the fire.
“The local firies did such an amazing job and the community is so grateful for their support in saving homes,” community member Julie Kirk said.
