On Saturday, August 25 over 50 performers, musicians and dancers will be bringing you an evening of ground-breaking collaborations of rhythm and movement at the Bega Big Groove.
It will be a night of multicultural global fusion - East, West and all that is best in our community including Bollywood Bhangra, Afro-pop, hip hop, Spanish, classic pop, West African and Japanese.
The line-up bringing you the deepest, fattest, funkiest grooves includes Ben Fowler, Robyn Martin, Dan Scollay, David Dixon, YuNiOn, Bembakan, Stonewave Taiko, Far South Flamenco, “Flip the Script” Crew, Bega Valley Cathys, Rhythm Takes Flight, Bega Zumba with Trish, the Stonewave Taiko Matsuri Dancers and special guests.
Join in the fun as professional dance instructors guide the audience en masse in Japanese Matsuri dancing, West African dance and Zumba.
Then, dance your heart out to the fat and funky sounds of the Bega Big Groove Band, a humongous funky powerhouse Afro-pop orchestra featuring Stonewave Taiko, Bembakan and special guests.
All ages are welcome and it will be held at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre in Bega from 7pm on Saturday.
The civic centre’s bar will run a bar and food vendors will be on hand from 6pm to keep you fuelled for dancing before the event and throughout the evening.
This whirling tumult of rhythm and movement is directed by David Hewitt and presented by South East Arts and Stonewave Taiko.
Tickets for the Bega Big Groove are $25/$20 or $65 for a family. For inquiries call 0413 390 819.
