Kaela Barnes said she heard about the Mystery Box Rally from members of her AFL team who raced in it last year and thought it sounded like a good cause.
“Cancer is such a big thing, it looms over everyone,” the 23-year-old said.
“Everyone has been affected by cancer some way or another.”
She said her mother Gina Barnes put up her hand to go with her, which was great because they get on “really well” together.
While the five-day rally starts and finishes in Mildura in October, they are not told what roads they will be travelling until to comes time to drive, and must race with an old car so will be taking a 26-year-old Mitsubishi Magna.
The two will hold a pizza and bingo night to raise funds for the Cancer Council on Saturday, July 28 from 6pm at Bega Country Club, Tarraganda.
The cost includes pizza and bingo and is $20/$15/$12.
