The club will host motorsport racer and coach Troy Hunt as part of the Top Gun Driving Academy on the day for a free event that gives 30 lucky kids aged six to 12-years-old an opportunity to drive real race karts with expert tuition as part of the Junior Sprockets program on July 19.
Officials from the club said this was a huge honour for the Far South Coast circuit as the program “typically only visits metropolitan areas” and sign ups are normally $195 per person for the course.
“Thanks to a grant obtained through the Office of Sport, the program will be provided absolutely free of charge.”
The club said it was a real coup to get the opportunity to host a racing legend, who will be able to share some top skills with the kids.
Troy Hunt is a seven-time Australian Champion and runs the Top Gun Driving Academy. Troy has coached Formula 1 superstars like Daniel Riccardo who now has his own line of go kart chassis’.
Each child will receive around two hours of driving and coaching using the latest go karts and equipment – which will be provided on the day. Each participant will also receive a free practice licence and some merchandise to take home with them.
The program caters for up to 30 people and there are still a few spots left.
