Faye Millikin can recall the first day she came to sign up.
“I walked into the hall and there were so many people, it took all my strength not to walk straight out again,” she said.
She was new to town at the time and wanted to become involved to get to know people and help the community.
She worked many hours of service in her eight years, being rostered onto three shifts a week at times when Ricky’s was formally open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
In her time at the organisation she said she enjoyed talking with the clients. Many volunteers have appreciated a listening ear for their problems too.
At Ricky’s Place volunteers come and go for a variety of reasons and there is always an opening for new ones.
