In what turned out to be a better day weather wise than originally predicted, some great display’s of football were witnessed by spectators.
First to play for the day were the Bombala High Heelers taking on the Cooma Fillies and after losing the toss, received the kick.
The High Heelers started well scoring the first try just six minutes into the game through a great individual try to Kayley Keavey and after converting her own try the score was 6-0 to the Bombala girls.
After this, the Bombala girls got on with the job, scoring another 3 tries before half time with one to captain Maree Coates and two to speedster Sam Stewart, taking the score to 18-0 at half time.
The second half started a bit slower for the Bombala team, but they were able to get their first points of the half via Sam Stewart and with the conversion waved away the lead was now extended to 22-0.
Next to score for the High Heelers was Amy Stone who was able to evade defenders and score. Just one minute later, Monique Perkins saw an opportunity from dummy half and snuck over the line to score under the posts, the score now reading 30 nil with just under 10 minutes remaining.
The High Heelers had more points left in them and with a great try to Amy Stone the girls now led 34-0. Kayley Keavey’s successful conversion rounded out the scoring for the home side taking a convincing win of 36-0. It was a great display by the Bombala girls who were able to maintain ball control in wet conditions and work hard in defence to keep the opposition to nil.

Bombala were able to hit back with a try to Chris Halligan and with a successful conversion by Murray Jackson, the boys were back in it trailing 16-6. Just before half time Cooma were able to hit back with a try and went into half time leading 20-6. The scoreline did not reflect the toughness of this game, with the Bombala boys testing a strong Cooma outfit.
