One of Bega’s most talented young musicians has been given a $10,000 boost to their career.
Corey Legge is a recipient of a Create NSW Young Regional Artist Scholarship, which he will use to record a new solo album with renowned producer Ben Edwards in New Zealand.
He has been writing music for this album - which is folk pop with country influences - for the last five years.
Mr Legge was “over the moon” about the chance to work with Mr Edwards, saying it would broaden his horizons and be a new experience in terms of genre.
“It’s an absolutely unbelievable opportunity and I’m really excited about it,” the 25-year-old said.
“In my experience I’ve found it pretty tough having a band in a regional area, there doesn’t seem to be too many opportunities for artists.
“It’s really awesome the NSW Government has recognised that deficit in the music industry and pushed funding towards those areas.”
Member for Bega Andrew Constance announced Mr Legge as a recipient of the scholarship this week.
