This year the Australia Day celebrations will carry through to Saturday, January 27 at the Bombala Exhibition Grounds.
As well as the Shearing Competition running throughout the day there will be loads of things for young and old alike.
Bombala’s Australia Day ambassador is Ms Emma Rossi media executive and former TV presenter who will be there on the day to present Bombala’s Australia Day Appreciation awards to members of the community who go above and beyond to improve the lifestyle in Bombala.
“In fact now is the time to nominate those exceptional people within the community for a 2018 Australia Day Appreciation Award that will recognise the outstanding contributions made by locals that help to make the Bombala region a great place to live,” organisers said.
Bombala and its surrounds have loads of extraordinary folk that give up their time to help ensure local sporting clubs thrive and the community volunteers involved with the local SES, Rural Fire Brigades, Visitor Information Centers, sport and recreation clubs, business and industry groups, fundraising and special events.
Categories include: Local Citizen Appreciation Award; Local Young Citizen Award, Local Sports Person Award and Local Community Group or Event.
Applications are available at the Bombala Newsagency, Delegate Cafe and NAB Bombala. Nominations close on Friday.
Celebrations start with the annual Mini Triathlon. The Photography and Art Painting competition entries will be on display with the winners to be entered into the Royal Easter Sydney Show.
The Nimmitabel Chainsaw Club will be giving a chainsaw demonstration and the fellows of the Bombala Historic Engine and Machinery Club will have some of their machinery on display and running.
There will be activities for the children, a jumping castle and food and refreshment stalls.
