Tulgeen operates five Australian disability enterprises, not for profit organisations that provide employment opportunities to people with disability.
The enterprises are the Bega Valley Work Crew, Stitches and Prints, Tulgeen Packaging Services, Tulgeen’s Riverside Nursery and Tulgeen Shredding.
Tulgeen Packaging Services (TPS) is a partnership with Bega Cheese. Employees assist Bega Cheese in repackaging products.
Recently, Job Access assisted one of Tulgeen’s employees in his role at TPS through providing a chair to assist him in his work. As a result, Graeme is happy and feels supported in his role at Tulgeen.
Tulgeen’s enterprise manager Dave Akehurst said employment is a valuable part of everyone’s lives.
“We at Tulgeen play a critically important role in provision of valuable and rewarding roles,” he said.
“TPS is a facility that complies with stringent Australian food safety standards and has a business outlook like any other, but our core purpose is to provide employment that enriches people’s lives.”
Mr Akehurst said he was happy to support employees like Graeme in their work, ensuring his needs are met.
“Employment can boost self-esteem, it provides a connection with community and provides a sense of purpose,” he said.
“We ensure Tulgeen’s employees are satisfied and supported in each of their roles.”
