Albury is set to unveil one of the biggest front-rowers after signing Bombala’s Adam Rodwell. The 188cm, 118kg powerhouse was a regular member of junior representative teams in Group 16.

“He’s quite aggressive on the field but, off the field, he’s really quite a nice bloke, a gentle giant,” Bombala coach and ex-Thunder player Joe Bobbin said.
“He’s definitely hard to stop, we had him pretty fit this year and he was still weighing in around 115kg but he’s one of those blokes that’s about to take his footy to the next level.”
Rodwell won Bombala’s best and fairest award, as well as best forward. The league isn’t considered as strong as Group Nine, but Rodwell’s standing at both club and representative level should guarantee he will make an immediate impression. Thunder missed finals last season.
Golf
There was no golf for the Bombala ladies on Wednesday with so much happening at this time of the year.
On Saturday the members played a Stroke for the Monthly Medal. A couple of the chaps were going stroke for stroke until the 17th. Ask Wayne Elton what happened on this hole, not a happy chappy. Tony Brady won the battle with a good round of 66 nett with Wayne winning the ball with 71 nett.
Sunday was Closing Day. A Mixed Chapmans was the event for Cary and Wayne Elton Trophies. Ray and Betty Crawford were the winners with 75 1/8 nett. Balls were won by Ray and Betty, Pepper Thompson and Eva L’Estrange 78 1/8 nett were the second ball winners.

At the close of the season we now start the Chicken Runs: Saturday, December 16 – 18 Holes. Sunday – 18 Holes. Saturday 23 - 9 Holes. Sunday Christmas Eve 9 Holes. Boxing Day – 9 Holes. Saturday, December 30 - 9 Holes. Sunday NYE – 9 Holes. New Year’s Day – 9 holes. Duty Roster Saturday, December 16 – Simon Stephen.
Bowls
The final of the mixed handicap pairs, sponsored by Lou Lou’s Boutique and Gifts was played on Saturday after being washed out the previous week. A Dent and C Ingram ran out the winners def D Dent and N Brotherton 43 to 7.
On Sunday the annual Jim Yelds Day, Christmas party and bowls presentation day was held. Social bowls were played prior to and after lunch. Winners on the day were D Dent and K Callaway with 2 wins plus 17. Runners up were P Kane and C Ingram with 2 wins plus 8. Many thanks to organisers for arranging lunchtime snacks.
