Five young artists up for Scholarship

Five young Bega Valley Shire musicians have been named as finalists for the 2017 St Cecilia Youth Music Society scholarship after a weekend of auditions.

President of the St Cecilia Youth Music Society, Chris Heazlewood, announced that Anne Browne (Tanja), Amelie Ziino (Merimbula), Mora Fiedler (Bemboka), Dejan Kanizir (Merimbula), and Luca Ziino (Merimbula) would perform at the final concert on Sunday, November 26.

This marks the highest participation from the Bega Valley.

There are also six finalists from the Eurobodalla Shire, and one from Bomaderry.

"The quality of music played by all the applicants this year was particularly outstanding,” Mr Heazlewood said. "Our experienced music judges from Canberra who assessed and gave helpful suggestions to each student had nothing but praise for all of the musicians".

The public can hear and congratulate all the finalists at the St Cecilia Annual Gala Concert on Sunday, November 26, when all the winners will be announced.

The concert will be held at St Bernards Church in Batehaven.
