Conditions were far from ideal, but 49 starters battled the strong winds and cold to return some good scores and enjoy the luncheon and trading table provided by the volunteers. A Stableford competition was played with Division 1 being won by Marnie Nicholson with 39 points ahead of Kerry Gardner with 34 points. Division 2 wiiner was Libby Whiteway with 33 points. Runner up, just 1 point behind was Nora Trent. Margaret Kermode, with 34 points, was the winner of Division 3 and Anne Tranter, with 32 points, was the runner up.
In men’s news, officials said there would be more than 100 players taking part across Saturday and Sunday.
In regular play, the Thursday DWWW stableford provided some hot scores as Sean McCambridge fired up to claim A grade on 42 whilst Phil Jackson took out B grade on 41. Lynton Riddell jagged golden shot and balls went out to 33.
Saturday saw our golfers blessed with perfect playing conditions and the best round of the day went to youngster Duke Creary on 45 giving him B grade, while Adam Crain fired up to shoot a par round with 41 to take A grade. C grade went to Paul James on 42.
In Club Championships the individual matchplay final went to Matty Taylor 2-1 to just nudge a valiant TC Gardner. Matt claimed the play of the day after his eagle on the 11th. In the 4BBB match play final Ian Rainbird and Chris O’Brien combined to defeat Ken and Jim Kichenside. Chris shot a 44.
