Snowy Monaro Regional Council said that it had had a number of community inquiries about places that will welcome trick-or-treaters.
It is asking people if their street or neighbourhood is Halloween friendly to register their participation and mark the address on the Snowy Monaro Regional Council’s Halloween page.
The council will be putting together a Halloween map (or at least a list of neighbourhoods) for the region that will be promoted via the SMRC website and Facebook page for any would-be trick-or-treaters.
Plans are also well underway throughout the region to celebrate Halloween.
The Nimmitabel Advancement Group is having a “Trick-a-Treat and Fancy Dress Disco Party” at the Nimmitabel Pioneers Memorial Hall on Saturday, October 28.
Little monsters and creatures will start the party with a special Trick-or-Treat which will last for about an hour.
President of the Nimmitabel Advancement Group Vickie Pollard said all the houses that the Trick-or-Treaters are visiting have been pre-organised within the community.
“Some of them even dress up in Halloween costumes for the children,” Ms Pollard said.
“The children are supervised at all times and parents are also welcome to join in the fun.”
After the children return to the Pioneers Hall they will be greeted into the Halloween Cave at the entrance.
“The hall decorations are a must see. But beware it’s all a little spooky,” Ms Pollard said.
Apparently Nimmitabel has been celebrating Halloween for a few years now.
“Last year we had around 50 children attend and everybody had a fantastic time,” Ms Pollard said.
“And this year we are so hoping to see as many children, if not more come along to our yearly event.
“The $2 entry fee buys you Trick-or-Treat visits, disco entry, a hot dog, drink and an ice cream.
“There will load of fun to be had with music, lollies and dancing.
“Be there or BEWARE!”
Halloween – or All Hallow’s Eve – is traditionally celebrated on October 31 as the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day.
