The newly elected president is Zoe Joseph, while the vice-president is Les Atkins, who continues in the role from last year.
Ms Joseph is a holistic healing consultant and practitioner of ThetaHealing based in Bombala.
The chamber said it plans to continue liaising with council on issues concerning community and businesses in the Bombala district. There are also plans afoot to widen the scope of chamber membership.
Still at the forefront is the $4.6million of funding earmarked for major projects in Bombala and Delegate.
“After the disruption of the past year, we will now be able to move forward in a more stable and measured way,” Ms Joseph said.
“We will liaise closely with council and community to make sure the major projects agreed on for Bombala, finally happen.
“We will have regular meetings so all members can bring new ideas.
“The first thing is to make sure the river terracing project is completed soon, so that tourists and locals can enjoy access to the waters edge on our beautiful river.”
The river terrace project was funded by the Future Towns funding, as a joint effort between the chamber and council.
“There has been much thought throughout the community on how best to liaise with the newly elected council over the next few years,” Ms Joseph said.
“One idea is for the chamber to admit auxiliary members who have much to contribute, but who do not own a business.
“We want new younger members with new ideas. There are many retirees who have knowledge and experience to offer.
“We hope to widen the scope of the chamber membership so we can tap into this capable group within the Bombala community.
“We will consider whether it is necessary to amend the constitution in order to allow a wider range of membership,” she added.
“We need a strong representative voice, so we can compete with the lobby groups in other towns such as Cooma and Jindabyne. We need to work with these other towns to create good outcomes for us all, particularly in tourism.”
The next meeting of the Bombala and District Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for November 9.
