“Mostly it’s about having fun,” organiser Isaac Lynnah said this week.
“Everyone who comes is going to be surprised by what they can achieve, while also having a good time.”
While the event focuses on the creation of a game prototype, knowledge of game development is not necessary.
Games are made in teams which can be made up of people with different creative interests.
Teams benefit greatly from having artists, writers, entrepreneurs, sound effects and music creators, and programmers all contributing.
Mentors will be available for novices and beginners, some of whom are industry professionals.
Last year’s event had over 50 participants, and this year’s will be held from October 7 to 8 at the Bega Valley Regional Learning Centre in Merimbula.
Tickets are available at gdj17.eventbrite.com.au, and more information can be found at gamerdevjam.com.au or by contacting Chris Bateman at chris@theloadedgamer.com.
