The photos are provided by Bombala Newsagent Dave Goodyer who is also a member of the Bombala & District Historical Society.
Some of the information that we receive from readers about the old photos goes to filling in gaps and updating information for the Bombala Historical Society.
Last week’s photo was of a local man and his family, Ted O’Hare at Corrawong Station, Delegate. The photo had written on the back that is was the first old car to come to the Monaro and owned by Ted O’Hare.
This week the Bombala Historical Society also points us to information about Ted O’Hare causing “Australia's first Motor car fatality" where he accidentally ran over and killed his own corn cutter. That story was published in The Truth Newspaper Sydney 1925.
There is also an article in the Sydney Mail in 1937 about the Delegate Pioneer – The Late Mr Ted O’Hare who passed away at Corrawong Station.
You can link to the page on the Trove website.
This week’s Golden Oldie is of a local identity from the 1960’s with a great rainbow trout he has caught.
Does anyone recognise this man or know anything about him?
