What was Bermagui Blue Pointers (incorporating the Bermagui Blue Balls) founder, mentor and inspiration Gary Pearse’s mysterious mission?
Allegedly during the previous week Gary had been identified as one of the few remaining people in Australia who was not a dual national. As such he had been approached by a major political party to travel to Canberra to fill one of the imminent vacancies in Federal Parliament.
It was speculated at the swim later that morning as to which party Gary might represent as he is renowned for his large collection of hats and fondness for the occasional publicity seeking stunt.
However for the Bermagui Blue Pointers, Horseshoe Bay was calm following the big seas of the previous day. The 15C water temperature did not deter further serious training to take place for the Reboot in Bermagui ocean swim on September 24. Two swims are offered this year with a 350 metre swim, or the 350 metre swim, 200 metre run and 350 metre swim combination.
In a week where so many people were trying to prove how true blue, dinki di Strayan they were it seemed only fitting the after swim feast featured the notorious Blue Ringed Challenge. A blind taste test of five different of pies from Bazza’s Bakery in Bermagui resulted in all five pies being correctly identified.
So if you’d like to swim with the group with aspirations for high office, bring your togs, smile and bottle of tomato sauce to Blue Pool at 9am on Sunday.
