The junior side took on the Eden Killer Whales in Eden on Sunday and claimed a 3-2 win after leading 2-0 at the break.
A spokesman for the club said both teams gave a concerted effort on the field after Tathra had taken the comfortable lead in the opening period.
Eden regrouped in the second half and scored two goals in quick succession to lock up the scores.
The spokesman said it looks like the juniors’ run could at a close, but the Tathra side rallied and kicked their final goal in the last three minutes.
In other matches, the under 16s suffered a 3-1 loss to the Bega after trailing 2-1 at the break.
The Tathra Under 16’s team made a slow start to the game in which Bega scored twice in quick succession part way through the first half.
Tathra’s goal came from Jai McCabe, who made no mistake with a well-placed free kick to beat the keeper and find the net.
Officials said Tathra was stronger in the second half, but couldn’t find any scoring chances, while Bega scored a late goal to seal the win.
Players thanked Nick Fantham and Marley McCabe for stepping up from the 14s.
In the only senior game of the weekend, Tathra’s all-age women’s side suffered a 6-0 loss to Eden.
The club had a shortage of numbers with just eight players taking the field, but they battled hard against the strong Eden outfit.
A spokesperson said the team played well, but the cracks started to show in the second half as they players tired with no substitutes.
Due to successive byes and holidays, round 11 this Sunday will see the Tathra first graders take the park for the first time in a month.
The club is at home in Tathra up against Pambula starting with the Under 11’s at 9am then the Under 14’s at 11am, the women’s team at 12:10pm and finally first grade at 1.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Tathra Under 16’s are playing away at Wolumla with kick-off at 11:10am.
With most teams contesting at home, the Tathra United club will host its ‘Christmas in July’ celebration on Sunday.
“The club will celebrate with special social event to start at 2.30pm at the Tathra Beach Country Club,” a spokesman said.
“Players and supporters of all Tathra teams are welcome to join in the festivites.”
Other matches on the weekend will see the Bega Devils heading to Merimbula to clash with the Grasshoppers at Berrambool in first grade at 3.10pm.
The Wolumla Tigresses will host Mallacoota in a ladies draw at the Wolumla Recreation Ground from 12.30pm, while the first grade tigers face a bye weekend.
Bega Red will take on the Wolumla outfit in the reserve grade match to also be held at Wolumla with play to go ahead from 1.50pm.
Four rounds will remain after this weekend with the competition heading towards finals.
