This year the Heritage round is celebrating the merger of the Delegate Tigers Football Club with the Bombala Club forming the Bombala & District Rugby League Football Club.
Special jerseys will be presented to the first grade players by past players. The jerseys have been especially designed to feature half Delegate Tigers and half Blue Heelers design.
Heritage Day starts with the ladies at 1pm, reserves at 2pm and the firsts at 3.30pm.
“The first grade game is another top of the table clash and should be an extremely entertaining game of football as Bombala aim to redeem themselves from their earlier season performance against the Stallions in Cooma where they only lost in the later minutes of the game,” a spokesperson for the Heelers said.
After the afternoon games, presentations from all three grades will take place back at the Bombala RSL Club followed by the auctioning off of the prestigious jerseys.
“Everyone is encouraged to come along to show the Bombala teams their support and to come back to the club afterwards and participate in the auction if possible,” the spokesperson said.
League Tag
The Bombala High Heelers League Tag women are proving themselves a force to contend with after last weekends great finish against the top of the leader board Moruya Sharkettes.
The High Heelers were forced to defend their own line in the first 10 minutes before they sorted their half out and captain Patrice Clear ran the ball wide to score.
The Heelers struck again just before half time with a combination of Monique Perkins with Tash Stewart finding Sam Stewart who scored the next four pointer. The Sharkettes scored again and the girl’s went to the shed with a narrow 8 to 6 lead.
After half time the Heelers were determined to finish the game on a high and Tash Stewart claimed next points three minutes into the second half.
Bombala’s tight defence stopped the Sharkettes from penetrating the Heelers line and Patrice Clear who ducked and weaved her way through Moruya defenders for last points on the board taking the final score to 16 to 6.
Players player and three points went to Lucy Sellers, two points to Patrice Clear and one point to Kristy Nichols.
A spokesperson for the High Heelers said that girls were sitting in good stead to hit the top of the ladder having knocked off the ladder leaders last weekend.
“The girls have conceded one loss this year so far and we only have home games left to play.”
The High Heelers play Cooma this weekend, Eden the one after that, then play a double header against Narooma and Candelo/Bemboka before finals start.
