From over 3000 schools across the country, Bermagui Public School was selected to host a Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter landing on Friday, May 26, after completing the organisation’s Schools Program.
The program is designed to teach children about the service, and features interactive lessons to educate pupils, teachers and parents about the role of the service within communities.
Pupils had the opportunity to ask pilot Sam Wilson and new recruit, and former Tathra resident, Mitchel Van der Meulen some tough questions about their roles as rescuers.
Year 5 pupil Sam Wilson had the chance to experience the winch that saves countless lives each year.
