Economic Development and Tourism Manager for Bombala, Karen Cash said that the platform was coming from the government’s Future Towns Program and was formed as part of the main street upgrade.
“Of the $50,000 dollars granted, $30,000 was spent on workshops identifying a project that would encourage visitors to town and $20,000 was for the project identified through the workshops.
“By activating the river precinct we will be encouraging visitors to the area and also make it more attractive for locals to use,” Ms Cash said.
The viewing platform will consist of a series of terraced steps that lead down to the river where a small overhang will be built.
“The overhang will go out over the river for about one metre. It will have seating for people and be made of locally sourced hardwood,” Ms Cash said.
