“I’m focused on competing this Saturday at the Sydney Fitness Expo with the goal of earning my pro card, so I only decided a few days out to contest Canberra for the stage time,” Ryan said.
“Unfortunately that meant I didn’t have a proper peak week, which can be crucial to looking your best on stage.”
However, he said he was “stoked” to place third in his event given his short preparation time against some very strong opposition.
The extra stage presence for the male-fitness model should put him in good stead for this weekend, where he’ll tackle some of the country’s best.
“The event I’m competing in is the highest level you can contest outside of already being a professional – you have to qualify or already be a pro to take part,” Ryan said.
Ryan said he will meet massive opposition, but is hopeful to contest well and win his pro card.
“If I get the status, I’ll have some time off,” he said with a laugh.
