The fact that Bega Gun club puts on a great Christmas lunch is well known and is probably the reason for the turnout of eight squads for the 2016 event. Yes we do shoot, but the food is the great attracter!

The High Gun Invitational event sees all the year’s high guns compete for the Club sponsored sash. Six competitors line up with the program being 5 D/B, 5 S/B, 5 point score and 5 handicap. At the completion of the first round, Wayde Hawkins and Phil Body were equal. The shoot off, consisting of a re-run of the event finally left Wayde one point up and 2016’s winner. These two talented shooters featured in a shoot off in 2015 with Wayde being successful. Looking forward to 2017.
Phil Body led the presentations with heartfelt thanks to the members for their efforts this year and the fabulous lunch with special thanks to Gail for her coming out of retirement to run the shoot office.
High gun for the day was Chris Rowland with a score of 107/140. The three raffle winners, Phil Body, Mark Evans and James Body gave the treasurer some stress before settling for the meat trays instead of the $500 on offer – great clubmen!
The Fimac Engineering Handicap Shield for 2016 went to Simon Buckley. The Club thanks President Shane for his continued sponsorship of this event. Simon also took out the Club Champion award for the year and joins a very special group within our Club.
The most Improved Shooter Award this year went to a member who has worked consistently to improve her skills in our sport. Christel Feldmann was indeed a popular and worthy recipient. Congratulations!!
