On December 2, Women Resource Centre coordinator Gabrielle Powell presented several Bega Valley Public School pupils with awards for having the clearest message in the Art for Peace: Children and Young People Choose Non-violence poster competition.
Jonty Sweet, Jai Smith, Mina McArthur, Melica Meschi and Sebastian Mattner took out awards on the day.
Mina’s poster reads “Silence the violence: women and children have rights too”.
“I hope we can help some kids speak up and not remain silent about violence, and not to let it go on which we have done in the past as a society,” Ms Powell said.
The posters are on display at the Bega library until December 9.
