The Power FM Footy Boot Camp went ahead in Batemans Bay and at the Pambula Sporting Complex with 40 kids at each learning some valuable skills on Monday and Tuesday.
Power FM announcer Crystal Vas said rain looked to hamper the sessions.
“We were a bit nervous when we rocked up to set up and it was pouring with rain, but it all cleared up just In time for us to kick off,” Ms Vas said.
NRL development officer Damian Kennedy said it was an overwhelming response to the radio’s promotional event that featured Dragons Dylan Farrell and Dan Hunt and Manly’s Josh Starling.
“Both sessions featured a mixture of skill drills, fun games and a well-being presentation,” Mr Kennedy said.
“We had a bit of a question and answer time and the kids covered off a really good array of topics,” he said with a laugh.
Ms Vas said the boot camps were fantastic and shared Mr Kennedy’s sentiment about the question time.
“The kids loved the opportunity to ask the NRL players questions like how much pizza they're allowed to eat and If they've ever broken their legs,” she said.
During the sessions, kids were shown valuable skills about tackling, kicking and carrying with the ball, while getting a chance to learn off some of their idols.
“The kids got a footy and a cap as part of the day so we finished with the kids getting to chat to the guys and getting a few autographs,” Mr Kennedy said.
“It was an awesome day and I think all the kids that attended will be talking about it to their mates for weeks,” Ms Vas added.
The camps also featured visits from the now Dally M award-winning Kezie Apps, with entrants wishing her luck ahead of the ceremony on Monday and Tuesday.
Four NRL development staff were also on hand for both days and Mr Kennedy said plenty of interest was shown for minor league or school rep teams.
Mr Kennedy said Starling and Farrell had also visited last week of their own fruition to talk with school kids around the region.
The pair visited schools from Eden to Narooma.
