Friends and family joined together to congratulate the class of 2016 and award this year’s high achievers.
Year 12 student Kyle Bell said he was “pretty happy” and “relaxed” despite final year exams quickly approaching and is looking to explore a career in writing.
Fellow student Duke Boreham is hoping to begin a mechanic apprenticeship when the stress of exams subsides.
“I’m a bit nervous going out into the big world,” he said.
Declan Bower-Scott said he felt relieved to be moving into the next stage of his life.
“I’m pretty happy I’ve gone all the way through, it feels like a big achievement,” he said.
Year 11 Student leaders Morgan Durrant-Curtis and James Burgess helped say farewell to their fellow students.
“It’s sort of sad in one way because we are good friends with many of them,” James said.
“A lot of them will move away, so it’s one of the last chances we’ll get to see them.
“It’s also a happy day because they’ve accomplished something by finishing school.”
Carmen MacGregor won the University of Wollongong Award for First in Year, while Hannah Little and Shaun Smith shared the school’s award for Academic Excellence.
Eleanor Grose and Benjamin Mead shared the award for Academic Achievement and Julien Comer-Kleine and Katelyn Walsh shared ther award for Meritorious Achievement.
Outside the academic sphere, Millie Boyle took out the Pierre de Coubertin Award school sports award.
The class of 2016 left a heartfelt message in an open letter to the community.
“We would especially like to thank our families for their love, care, commitment and support of us as we have prepared for this milestone in our lives,” it read.
This year’s HSC exams begin on Thursday, October 13.
