Water from the tap no longer needs to be boiled for any purpose.
NSW Health made the decision based on the most recent river turbidity level and council’s management of the supply system.
The boil water notice was introduced on June 8 for the Brogo-Bermagui water supply system as a precautionary measure upon advice from NSW Health about elevated turbidity levels in the river water following heavy catchment rainfall.
BVSC manager of water and sewerages services Jim Collins said the river water had continued to clear since the rain to a level where council was satisfied that the water supply system could be managed safely.
“The Brogo-Bermagui water supply system is an unfiltered water supply system with water disinfected with chlorine only,” he said.
“We will now be planning further discussions with NSW Health and other state government agencies about the future management of our water supply systems and the availability of financial assistance for the construction of water filtration plants.”
