Alex Stewart, who has played representative football for both Group 9 and Group 20, said it will be a “dream come true” to run out on the oval named after his uncle Ack Weyman for the first time on Sunday.
“It will be good to play on the oval named after my uncle who I’ve always looked up to,” Stewart said.
“He’s always supported me on and off the field, the only thing that will make it better is when I can run out with both Tim and Michael wearing the Sharks jersey.
“We’ve all shared the love of footy and I’ve always looked up to them on and off the field.”
Shark coach Tim said he knew Alex would “fit right in” after he told him he wanted to play for Moruya.
“He is a tough player and a hard worker,” Tim said.
“I can’t wait to get out there and play a game with him and Michael.”
Michael echoed his brother’s sentiments and was rapt to be able to play with his first cousin after speaking about it for many years.
Ack reflected and he had always said he would be proud to see the three play first grade for the Moruya Sharks, and that anything else was a bonus.
“I got to watch Tim make his debut and play on our home ground years ago and Michael last year,” he said.
“Now to be able to watch Alex run out is a dream come true.
“Tim will be back towards the end of the season and it will be even better to see all three wearing the jersey.”
