The organisation brought 40 boxes of books to Ayres Walkway on Friday morning and walkers by couldn’t resist flicking through the selection of paperbacks and hardbacks on offer.
“We thought we would time it with the farmer’s market so there would be lots of people around and I’m surprised at how good the response has been,” secretary Edna Duncanson said.
“It’s just amazing.”
The availability of such a large array of books came about when the organisation ran out of storage space.
“Linda who was storing the books is very elderly - in fact she’s 99 - and had to make room in her garage,” Ms Duncanson said.
The organisation said they will hold their next book stall in Ayres Walkway in early March.
