After a recent tour of the building Mr Barnes said he was impressed by the multipurpose nature of the space.
“It’s well thought out and all together it should be great for the community,” Mr Barnes said.
“I hope the whole broad base of the community uses it.”
He highlighted the grey, blue and white checkered structure’s performance space as an exciting and much needed new piece of infrastructure.
“There’s room for theatre groups and others to perform and meeting rooms for conferences,” he said.
“We [Bega Chamber of Commerce and Industry] really do want to start running business awards again and it looks like the space can hold around 500 people.
“I think it will run efficiently and it’s great to have a space like that to hold a dinner.”
