The 1200-metre Splash for Cash ocean swim is the big drawcard of the annual weekend on Tathra Beach.
As in previous years, business and organisations were invited to purchase a ticket in a random draw for naming rights. For the $100 buy-in, the winning business receives around $10,000 worth of promotion through branding and event publicity.
On Friday night, at a well-attended sponsors function at the Tathra Surf Life Saving Club, it was Tathra Elders’ name drawn out of the hat.
“It’s outstanding, a great opportunity for us,” Elders director Greg Coman said.
“At that time of year there are a lot of people around so this exposure will be fantastic. And the Wharf to Waves is a very successful community event so it’s great to be part of it.”
W2W secretary Jane Funston said around $6900 had been pledged through the sponsor drive, for which the committee was very grateful.
Ms Funston also thanked major sponsor Bega Cheese for its support over the years, as well as EnviroKey for its continued involvement.
