Bega-based Hoyland Constructions picked up a Master Builders Association of NSW Excellence in Construction Award for adaptive re-use of a historic building ($1-5million category) at a gala event at Sydney’s Star Casino.
The black tie event attracts over 900 industry participants to the commercial building industry’s most prestigious awards, with entries from the state’s largest commercial, industrial and civil contractors.
Each project entered was judged by a panel of esteemed industry experts.
Judges for the Hoylands’ Target development commented “the finished product is a credit to the small project team who achieved a high quality, detailed building which highlights the attention to good old fashioned safe building methods and techniques”.
George and Damien Hoyland said they were honoured to receive the award and that it was testament to a lot of hard work and long hours put in by their entire team.
“We’d also like to say a big thank you to [our wives] Helen and Peta,” Damien said.
“Behind the scenes they are the engine of this company and not many people would understand what they go through.
“And their work is ongoing – Peta does about as many hours as I do...and that’s a lot!
“All the books, the accounting, paying the subbies on time, and supporting George and I at all hours.
“If it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be where we are now.”
