The Sapphire Coast Kart Club ran its prestigious Momsen Motors Sapphire Cup three-day race meeting at its Frogs Hollow circuit over the weekend.

The club said key sponsors had come on board to offer more than $4000 in cash and trophies with eight classes run over the weekend.
However, it was a weekend for the visitors, with seven of the eight titles going to racers from afar.
Sebastian Ruiz from Canberra won the Cadet nine series, while local racer Max Essai finished runner-up.
In cadet 12, Noah Sands from Griffith won the title over runner-up Joshua Sargent from Grenfell.
Sargent’s older brother Thomas was the big winner in the junior national light class, edging out Bairnsdale racer NIgel Laity.
Meanwhile, Wagga Wagga’s Wil Longmore took out the junior national heavy.
The club’s fastest racers were those competing in the 125cc series.
There was one beacon of light for the local racers with Jack Loftus claiming a win in the 125 restricted division to relegate James Fyfe to the runner-up spot.
The 125 light division saw Chris Cooper take home a win with the Sapphire Coast Kart Club’s president Lance Ogier in the runner-up spot.
The 125 heavy event was won by Wollongong’s Stephen Southwell from Philip Bohan.
Organisers said the track was in a great condition and was a credit to the area, while races over the weekend ran “rain-free” and provided plenty of close exciting action for spectators and entrants.
A good crowd of spectators turned out to watch some of the races, while there was plenty of interest in joining the club.
As part of attracting new members, the club had one of it’s two Subaru four-stroke karts on show.
The karts are part of a rapidly growing division and provide a “cost-effective” entry in to the world of go karting.
The club has two karts available to try and said it hoped to host sprint events soon with options to hold endurance events at the track next year.
Scheduled race events at Frogs Hollow have now finished for the year with organized race meetings recommencing in early February of 2016.
Practice drives and tryouts will still be held at the club over summer. ‘
