I wouldn't for a second want to go back and change that decision.
Not only has it reinforced and developed the desire to become a journalist, it has also taught me what the environment of the workplace of such a job is like.
The attention to detail in their work just changes my perspective on the newspaper.
Everything is thought through, the amount of work they put into it amazes me, and from morning to afternoon their attention is focused on the stories they write for the community, making sure everyone can enjoy them.
There is also a sense of true team spirit within the walls of the newspaper.
Instead of everyone focusing on their own work, they collaborate to move the quality of their work forwards.
The part I relished the most here has been the face-to-face interviews.
I found these enjoyable because I was able to see first-hand the techniques and interactions with people of journalists Albert and Alasdair.
Thanks to these "road trips" I have met a number of talented, intelligent and interesting people in the Bega Valley.
During my time here Albert McKnight was always ready to lend a hand; he was a very attentive person in the office and out.
Alasdair McDonald encouraged me in everything I did, always offering helpful criticism and giving me excellent advice.
One person I would like to acknowledge for making this enriching experience possible is Ben.
He was always making sure I had something to do and that I could participate and learn everything possible on how the newspaper operates.
He taught me a good journalist needs to have a passion for it, to be inquisitive, approachable and know how to craft a captivating story.
I believe Ben Smyth is the glue that holds the team together.
This experience has been more than educational, it has been sensational.
