Held on Tuesday and Wednesday, pupils and staff came to school dressed as their favourite book characters.
“Just about everyone dressed up,” school principal Carolyn Nugent said on Wednesday.
“They’ve all had a really fun day, despite the rain.”
Bega Valley Public teacher and acting teacher/librarian Rebecca Foster said the school had not held Book Week for a few years, but the pupils enjoyed themselves during this year’s celebrations.
“They took it on very well,” Ms Foster said.
“Some came to school with really fantastic costumes and with others I was painting their faces this morning.
“Book Week is to celebrate Australian authors and illustrators and encourage a life-long love of reading and learning.”
A parade was held in the school hall on Wednesday afternoon and after that some teachers dressed as crayons from the book The Day The Crayons Quit treated the pupils and staff to a spectacular performance.
During Book Week a selection of books was provided at the school from Candelo Books for the children to purchase.
