ON A frigid Sunday afternoon, an ex-Bega Valley songstress launched her new album in Candelo.
On July 12, Lucie Thorne released her record Everything Sings Tonight at the Candelo Town Hall, backed up by her long-time collaborator and drummer Hamish Stuart.
Thorne, who now lives in Melbourne, is on a 30-gig tour around Australia and the show in Candelo was approximately the 17th on the tour.
The weekend’s cold snap did not deter a large crowd from attending her performance, and the town hall was packed with people wearing beanies and big coats.
Supporting act for the afternoon was local singer-songwriter Erin McMahon, whose voice stunned the crowd and for her final song she had her audience participating in a cover of PYT by Michael Jackson.
After McMahon, Thorne performed a long set comprised of both old songs and new.
The tone of songs varied from ones such as Great Wave, where Stuart made sure he was heard with a crashing drum beat, to the new record’s quieter title track.
During her show Thorne said while she only had 19 hours in the Bega Valley this trip, she loved being back and wanted to return for longer.
For sale at Thorne’s merchandise table were reusable shopping bags printed with “Everything Sings Tonight” as well as limited edition undies that were also printed with the album’s title.
Thorne’s new album is available as both CD and vinyl.
