Around 6pm on Monday, the resident received a phone call from a person claiming to be lawyer Peter Tierney, formerly of Peter Tierney and Associates.
They had a brief chat, before “Mr Tierney” offered the resident investments of $8000 with $3000 cash back at the end of the month.
The resident knew it must be a scam as the offer was too good to be true, so she said she wasn’t interested and hung up.
“I didn’t take much notice at first, because I though the call was from a respectable guy,” she said.
Through talking to her friends about the incident, she found six other people around Bega have had similar calls.
She wanted to warn the public as “there will be people who fall for it”.
