Richard Tarlinton and eight cousins will be the first riders to take the WD Tarlinton track in 14 years.
Now open for use again, this track was a historic bridle track, starting from east Braidwood and winding down the escarpment through to Wandella.
The track was originally used as a transport route for business, horses, supplies and travel, equivalent to today’s use of the Brown and Clyde Mountains.
Cobargo town was developed thanks to this track.
The nine riders, with a pack horse each, will complete the ride in stages, giving the horses a spell in Wandella, then ride on into Cobargo Show on Saturday for the finish.
This will be around the time of the show’s official opening.
Richard Tarlinton will have a few words (if he has the energy) about the ride and its importance to Cobargo and the Tarlinton family.
