The workshops held in the shire’s main towns have provided a valuable source of information both for and from the community, with people invited to present on local issues and quiz councillors on a wide range of topics during a question and answer session.
Mayor Michael Britten said the workshops had provided a good opportunity to explore local issues in detail.
“This will be our third roving community workshop in Bega and I am again looking forward to engaging in lively discussion on a range of local issues,” he said.
“The workshops open the floor for discussion of any local issue, and with a range of Bega-based projects and issues being talked about locally I am sure there will be much to discuss.
“We have the CBD Masterplan currently on exhibition, the next stage of the Littleton Gardens redevelopment and the Bega Civic Centre works taking place, so I expect lots on the agenda for another well-attended workshop.
“Specifically, I am looking forward to the opportunity of discussing important details of key projects that are sometimes misunderstood and misrepresented in the fast moving world of electronic and social media.
“It’s only through knowing all the important facts that open discussion can have the greatest effect, and accordingly I am keen to learn more from our local residents on how they feel about any issue or council in general,” Cr Britten said.
Residents are invited to make presentations on any issue they feel is important, or to ask questions at the question and answer session following the presentations. Questions can be asked from the floor, or provided in writing prior to the session.
The Bega workshop will be held at 4pm on Wednesday at the Bega Valley Shire Council chambers.
